Smart Growth Tulsa was honored recently by Tulsa’s Young Professionals (TYPros) at the organization’s 2016 Boomtown Awards Ceremony at the new River Spirit Casino Resort Ballroom. The recognition of SGT with the Urban Advocate Award, highlighted our support for urban revitalization to enhance the quality of life and attract young professionals to our community.

It was particularly reaffirming to be included alongside two other highly deserving nominees, including Debbie Ruggles, for her work with MTTA, and the Downtown Tulsa Coordinating Council. We acknowledge the great work they do, and look forward to working with each of them in the future.

It was a spectacular evening, where TYPros members and supporters gathered for a night to honor the dreamers and doers that shape our city and to celebrate the big ideas and bold actions of Tulsans that advance the TYPros mission to attract and empower young, creative talent.

All proceeds from the evening benefited the TYPros Foundation which provides strategic funding to projects and programs that engage young Tulsan’s in economic development and placemaking. So, in addition to the Boomtown Awards, the Foundation announced the recipients of its latest grant cycle, exciting projects and programs that will enhance Tulsa’s sense of place. Congratulations to the 2016 grantees: The Outsiders House Museum, Kitchen 66 Food Truck, Parking Lot Art, Rainy Day Poetry and #TulsaFlag.
